Audiobooks: I am usually always listening to something in tandem. I will be driving, crafting, walking, working out, working on something that I can easily do, cleaning, gardening, laundry, painting (walls, cabinets, trims, etc), and puzzles.

Books: I will have something on in the background often: music usually sometimes the TV I can zone out during.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been getting more into audiobooks and am curious what other people do (or don’t) when listening.

I prefer to knit but I might have to do the dishes instead. I usually listen to books when driving, too. I used to say that I drove slower as I neared my destination if the chapter wasn’t over. Now I just skip back to rejoin the story.

That’s funny! I usually don’t listen in the car because I don’t feel I pay enough attention to the audiobook.

When I’m listening to audiobooks, I’m either working in the kitchen (chopping, sauteeing, cleaning) or driving. I can’t do anything that involves reading (like I can’t check an update on my phone or anything).
When I’m reading, I can’t be doing anything else. I can’t have the tv on or anything else, except maybe petting my cat.
With as much reading as you do, Alicia, are you able to multi-task or are you doing it all in a reading nook of some sort?

For audiobooks, I tend to be doing housework, baking, and if the book is really good, driving. But audiobooks have been a more recent development. As for eyes-on book reading, I make time each day plus I’m often reading while eating, taking breaks from work, before bed, waiting in lines (that fringe reading concept) etc.
